Here at Pequea we take membership seriously because the Bible takes membership seriously. The Bible presents the local church as a community of people gathering in Jesus’ name for worship and mutual edification and scattering to share the gospel (see Matthew 28:18-20). Responding to Jesus Christ in faith joins us together with fellow Christ followers like members of one large household (see Ephesians 2:19-22). Following and growing in Christ finds its fullest expression in committed relationship to God and with one another (see Matthew 22:36-40).  Our duties to each other flow from the richness of the “one another” principles in the Scriptures, prominent of which is the command to gather in corporate worship (see Hebrews 10:24, 25; Psalm 84:4; Acts 2:42) and Christ’s new commandment to make the gospel visible to the world by love for one another (Jn. 13:34, 35). Our lives in Christian community, joined together in worship under the Lordship of Jesus Christ and in commitment to one another display visibly the gospel we proclaim audibly. It is a high calling and great privilege!
