| What is a Small Group?
A group of people (approximately 3-12) who agree to meet together regularly for the purpose of spiritual encouragement.
What is the purpose of a Small Group?
The purpose of a small group is spiritual growth by relating to God and one another (worship), caring for one another (ministry) and sharing the good news of Jesus Christ (outreach).
When do Small Groups meet?
There is no prescribed day or time when groups must meet. The time, frequency and length of group meetings is determined by each group.
Where will Small Groups meet?
Each group will determine the place for their meetings. The best place for groups to meet will be in group member homes.
How often do Groups meet?
To maximize the benefit it is recommended groups meet a minimum of two times each month.
Do all groups study the same thing?
No. Each group decides their topic of study and how they will fulfill their purpose.
How long of a commitment will I need to make to a Small Group?
Groups will commit to meeting together for four months (May through August). After that time there will be opportunity to renew the commitment, start a new group, or join another group.
How do groups get together?
Groups form as people commit to meeting together. Each group needs a leader. Indicate your commitment by signing up in the lobby. Sign up to host a small group, lead a small group or to be an assistant leader. Groups can form geographically by neighborhood, by mutual interest, marital status, stage in life, etc.
Who is qualified to be a Small Group Leader?
The minimum requirement to lead a small group is Membership at First Baptist Church of Pequea and regular Sunday morning attendance. Small Group leaders must be approved by the Deacons and be willing to attend regular training sessions.
What about child care?
Each group will need to determine ahead to time how they will handle child-care.
What about Accountability?
Each group will be accountable to the Deacons and to one another through the Small Group Covenant which will be explained in the information training sessions.
